The Human Longing

Why do we, as humans, long so much for acceptance? It seems that it is inherent in our nature and being. Why can't we just rest in the knowledge that God is all we need? Why do we continually look to other people for affirmation, rather than wondering if God is pleased with us? For myself, I know I struggle with this almost daily. Even though I try to not wonder what others are thinking about me, and wether or not they accept me, I always find myself not trusting God and thinking about those very things. I have recently come to the conclusion that everyone faces this issue, even those who seem "accepted." Let's face it, everyone wants to be liked and feel part of something, in no matter how small a way. The thing that most people forget, even those who know, is that nothing done by another fallen human being, no matter how grand, on this earth will ever satisfy us. God is the only fixed point in this universe, only He can fulfill our longings and needs.

Significance: Seek to please God. Only then will you find TRUE meaning and acceptance.
